I found the solution when we could not use wicd-gtk connection with auto DNS set (not sure why!)  Put this (and replace the respective network device assignation) in  /etc/network/interfaces  iface wlp2s0 inet dhcp    dns-nameservers 8.8.8.8    dns-nameservers 8.8.4.4
